I placed an online order with Forever 21 for $126.
I tracked it. It was due to arrive on Thursday.
I had it sent to my home address.
Thursday evening I arrived home. No package outside. My personal mailbox is too small for any package. There was no slip indicating it was waiting at the post office.
I tracked it online. Delivered. “Signed for by: No signature required.”
I assumed it had been left outside and stolen.
I called customer service this morning. They emailed me an affidavit to fill out, assuring me this will prompt an “investigation” …in an attempt to “locate” the package. If it cannot be located, my credit card will be credited.
I gave them a bit of a hard time, asking to know why it is not an option to mandate a signature. All customer service representatives agreed that their policies should change. I was reassured that I will get my money back as soon as I submit the paper work on Monday morning.
Tonight I got a knock on my door from my neighbor. She informed me that there is a bigger box that all keys have access to, which I never noticed nor needed (she’s lived here for 13 years…) and that I had a package in there.
*red face.*
It occured to me……. I can still get my money back. They didn’t bat an eye in accepting the package had been stolen. They don’t expect to find it or catch the theif or anything.
Forever 21 will never miss this $126…also, truthfully they really should fix this (and mandate a signature for deliveries, especially of merchandise upwards of $100,) so if I’m just one more example of a flaw they should rectify, how is that bad?
Should I go through w/ processing the paper work and getting my money back? I’ll never get caught.
*Please bare in mind I would NEVER steal from a private party or small business. But Forever 21 is a nationwide chain…*
Is it wrong to still get the money back?
Brendan– They don’t put people away for 5 years over $126….it actually depends on the value stolen, and I don’t think they do anything for under $100 or $500 depending on the store…
Man you guys sure are buzz killers! lol okay okay I won’t do it… for reasons of conscience and karma.. as well as a little bit of fear/nervousness….but it’s funny how Gender Stu’s rape-a-licious inquiries get a better reception than stealing 100 bucks from a nationwide chain! lol anywhoooooooo I also wanted to exchange a couple of the items…which I wouldn’t be able to get away with if I were to pull of this caper
