I try not to shop there anyway cos it’s expensive but I do sometimes cos there’s one at the bottom of my road so it’s convenient for me; also, I really like some of their products (eg. their sushi) and I often think that neither Sainsbury’s nor Tesco have a good equivalent for the products of theirs I really like.
Anyway, I find that when I go to checkout my items, the cashier is always really cold and doesn’t smile or say hi or anything. Don’t get me wrong I don’t like to waste time w/ small talk, especially when getting on w/ my shopping, but I do like a bit of civility. In Sainsbury’s the cashier always smiles & says hi and talks to you with respect which is something I appreciate. In the Co-Op I find that their staff seem to be rude and/or hostile at any given opportunity. It’s almost as though they’ve been trained to be rude! I try to be green and have my own bags, but if I’ve left them at home and I ask for a bag for my shopping they look at me with disgust and then virtually throw one at me. Has anyone else had this kind of experience with Co-Op staff? I’m thinking of boycotting their stores because whenever I support their business I feel as though I’m being treated with contempt rather than gratitude.
