Open Question: How do I deal with Gypsies?

Gypsies have moved in an abandoned building next to mine, and I need to leave the house for a few weeks for business but I’m scared that they will break in and steal stuff, or start squatting in my home. How do I prevent a burglary? I don’t know anyone in the neighborhood so I can’t ask anyone to monitor my house while I’m gone. Normally I would have tried to chase the gypsies away but there’s a lot of them and I saw a few with knives and slings. Calling the police isn’t an option, there is a local PD but they don’t patrol this area much and are underfunded and understaffed and besides gypsies are really fast, I doubt anyone would even notice them breaking in. I tried asking the police to clear the abandoned building, but the Gypsies fled when they heard the sirens and came back the next day. I think they know it was me who called because I’m the closest to them, so my house is pretty much guaranteed to get robbed.
