Open Question: I would like to pursue a career in criminal justice, what’s the right path for me?

I just finished my sophomore year in High School and since I was very young I have been fascinated by police work and law enforcement. My weighted GPA is 2.76, which isn’t very high, but I still have next year to bring it up. I see commercials for the colleges that provide degrees in criminal justice, but if i want to be a detective or a crime scene investigator, do I have to go to another type of college? I live near Boston, so I would prefer if the school is in NH, NY, CT, or PA so I’m not too close to home. If you could tell me if I need to make substantial adjustments to my GPA to be able to enter one of the colleges that will give me my degree, I would be very thankful. If you could also suggest colleges in those areas that would be great. I would really like to go to a college to earn my degree, but if there are other close alternatives, I would accept those as answers as well.

PS. My HS is often said to be one of the best public schools in my state. Will this help me at all? My older brother is studying business at Pennsylvania State University in University Park, would that improve my chances of being admitted there? He made Dean’s list first semester this year (he is a freshman). I’m just adding in as much detail as I can, because I’m sure it all helps.

:) Thanks!
