Okay so today I was supposed to take my sister and her friends trick or treatingh and one of her friends sister who’s my age was going too. (I’m 15 and my sister’s 9) Well today my dad came home from work, and just flipped out on both of us, and we did nothing! He told my sister she couldn’t go trick or treating and started yelling at her. Then I told my dad to stop yelling at her and then he started cursing at me. So I just got up and walked her to her room and told her I would go and buy her some candy tomorrow. But she was in her room all balled up and crying. My dad really scared her.
After I calmed her down I went into the kitchen where my dad was and asked him what was wrong. Then he said “It’s none of your f***ing business!” I was really pissed off so, I said fine and then told him I was calling my grandmother to come pick me and my sister up (She’s my mom’s mom. They’re divorced. But my grandmother hates him!) He got mad and when I picked the phone up, he took it out of my hand and then shoved me against the wall and started yelling at me again. Then my sister came back out and he let go. Now she’s mad at him and she won’t leave her room because she thinks he’s going to yell at her again. I’m seriously calling my grandmother to pick us up tomorrow morning as soon as my dad leaves for work.
Can anyone think of any reasons why he would act this way? What should I tell my sister to calm her down? I gave her some candy we had in the pantry. But she’s still really shaky. She’s normally really bubbly and talkative, but now she only talks when I say something to her and they’re just simple replies like yes, no, or i don’t know. I really hate seeing her like this! So what else could I do to cheer her up?
PS: This obviously isn’t the first time shes been yelled at. But she did nothing wrong and she thinks she did. Also neither of us have seen my dad this mad before
