I have never really been religious in my life, but after being tired of the seemingly pointlessness of going to non denominational churches i felt like i needed more in my life. Anyway, i actually decided to not pretend i was not at home when a Jehovah’s witness came to my door. I must admit they looked so happy and like they had something that no one else did. I never really thought of it being a ‘cult’.
After going to their church i was amazed at how dedicated they all were. I went to a church i frequently visited and told the minister about them. He suggested I watch this documentary made by some Christian Ministry group called ‘In the Name of Jehovah’. I was shocked after watching it because it shows how the witnesses began and their history. The guy that started it was a quack, he believed that god created the pyramids and measure the corridors in them to make predictions that the Witnesses still believe today. The other guy that came after him was an alcoholic and made so many major changes to the doctrines that it can’t be that they were inspired by God. I think they said he was a judge or in some legal business.
The question is what do i do now? I’ve been avoiding talking to the witness guy i’ve been studying with for too long to just cut off all ties and ignore him. I keep putting off meeting up to study with him because i don’t know what to do. Should i tell him and show him the video i found? But it says that these predictions are made from their own literature so shouldn’t he know this already? Why wasn’t he honest with me about it in the beginning then?
What should I do?
