Open Question: What is the ideal # of times a dog should be walked each day?

I have a Bichon Frise who is left alone during the day while I work. I walk him at 5:30 a.m. and again at 8:00 p.m. I also have a dog walker come in and he walks him 3 times a day and checks up on him.

Over the last two weeks he has refused to go out with the dog walker. He hides under the bed and growls when the dog walker tries to retrieve him.

As I don’t get home until 5:00 p.m. I am a little concerned that this is too long for him to wait – although he has not done his business in the house while I am away.

Is this normal for a two year old dog? What can I do to encourage him to go with the dog walker?
