I am a Florida resident–born and raised. I am out of state for a total of 3 months for BUSINESS purposes using my car. Due to my landlord short-selling my condo, I no longer have a permanent address in Florida while I am away and won’t until I get back and find a new place. However, the place I am at now is only temporary for two months, then I’ll be in another location for a month and then back to Florida, my home. The bulk of my property is still in storage in Florida. What should I do about updating my auto insurance? If I use the house I stayed at for 5 months in between moving out of my condo and traveling to where I am now which is also the SAME house I will be at when I return to Florida and am able to find my own place, is that appropriate to use as my new auto insurance address? (Please no snippy comments about how I should have changed my address to my friend’s address in Florida months ago since, at that time, there wasn’t any idea how long I’d be staying there–it was on a day-to-day notice that ended up lasting 5 months.)
Also, I don’t know what to do about my driver’s license. I’m definitely not getting a license that is not a Florida one! To keep changing it every month or two for the next 4 months is absurd!
Open Question: What should I do about my auto insurance when in between permanent addresses?
