Does cox cable internet (regular home/personal, not business) give static or dynamic IP addresses?
I tried the method of changing IP addresses by cmd prompt and ipconfig \release, then making up a manual IP address in control panel / network connections, then changing it back to automatically assign IP address and restarting – no luck changing IP.
I do in fact have a router.
whether the IP address is static or dynamic, is the only/best way to do it to leave my modem off all night? does it have to be all night, what about just a few hours?
any good ideas out there, before I go through a million steps only to realize that none of them work. thanks!
